Dump Your Plump

A Good Idea

Description

Dump Your Plump (DYP) is a fitness program that promotes healthy exercise and eating habits through team-based competition. DYP distributes materials to local coordinators who help run DYP in their communities. The Partnership for a Healthier Johnson County serves as the contest coordinator for DYP and administrates three contests annually. Captains coordinate teams of participants who pay $10 each to register. Participants set weight loss goals of 0-20 pounds for the 10-week contest and commit to doing aerobic exercise for 30 minutes each day at least 5 days each week. Team and participants earn points at the end of the contest based on their accumulated exercise reports and weight loss goal outcomes. Participants are awarded money prizes for a team prize. Weekly newsletters are distributed to report and motivate participants.
