Coalition Roles and Committees
Coastal Georgia Indicators Coalition, Inc. is a 501 c3 non-profit entity, comprised of community members and advocates working together through a comprehensive, coordinated approach for planning accountability. CGIC serves as a resource to agencies addressing overall health and well-being while leveraging resources for community initiatives that align with the strategic long-range plan known as the Chatham Community Blueprint. The purpose of the Coalition is to improve community well-being by engaging and leading the community work collectively in its development, implementation of strategic priorities that guide policy, programs and resource allocation.
Sponsors and Partners
Sponsors are those included in the decision making process, whom provide a monetary contribution to CGIC. Partners are those who provide in-kind services and supports to further the work of CGIC. The Coalition consist of volunteer representatives of sponsors and partners along with community advocates.
Roles
CGIC sponsors and partners guide the planning process by serving on committees, project teams, attending community functions in support of CGIC and advocating for a comprehensive community conscience plan; known as the Chatham Community Blueprint. While each of the committees and project teams provide suggestions and recommendations, it is the CGIC Executive Leadership that provide oversight to the director, review and approve materials and will be held responsible for deliverables related to CGIC contracts.
The Coalition is composed of participating Charter, Sponsor and Partner organizations and individuals, either public or private that provide resources to accomplish its vision and mission. Each member organization may provide representatives to the Coalition to accomplish its efforts.

Coalition members will perform the following duties:
- Attend meetings of the Coalition and key events, as scheduled by the Chair or his/her designee.
- Review and approve the Coalition’s annual operating budget and set any applicable fees for recommendation to the Executive Leadership.
- Develop membership agreements and membership rates for recommendation to the Executive Leadership.
- Ensure that their organization contributes to the Coalition with financial and other resources.
- Help set short-term and long-term goals, provide support with implementation where deemed appropriate.
- Identify ways in which their organization can assist the Coalition’s implementation of agreed upon strategies and/or leverage resources to address community needs.
- Make decisions related to the use of funds held by the fiscal sponsor, when appropriate
- Promote an active relationship between their organization and the Coalition by keeping their organization informed of the Coalition’s activities and information.
- Make a good faith effort to work in collaboration with other member organizations to improve the social, health, educational, and/or economic wellbeing of the community.
- Enthusiastically participate on committees and implementation teams as appointed by the Chair. Elect a Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary from its membership annually, except in the first year of operation.
- Approve website content, customizations and enhancement recommendations made by the oversight agency and standing committees according to the website’s approved editorial policy.
- Notify own membership or other constituency of the project’s progress as appropriate and when coordinated through the Coalitions.
Committees
Committees are made up of coalition members working together to achieve the purposes of the organization by conducting specified tasks assigned by the Coalition officers. Tasks may include planning, marketing, community outreach efforts, logistics, data collection and evaluation, operational reviews, focus group development and other community planning efforts aimed at promoting collaborative strategies or actions.

The Executive Leadership is responsible for the short-term and long-term oversight

- Support the Coalition’s vision, mission, and purpose.
- Approve the strategic direction of the organization and ensure effective organizational planning to achieve the Coalition mission.
- Hire and supervise the Director/Project Manager.
- Evaluate the Director/Project Manager’s performance towards the achievement of stated goals related to the Coalition’s mission and role.
- Recommend for approval, the Coalition’s annual budget, provide financial oversight and ensure there are adequate resources to implement the Coalition’s mission.
- Determine, monitor, and strengthen organizational programs and services.
- Enhance the organization’s public standing.
- Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability.
- Review the membership agreements and rates developed by the Coalition and ensure payment hereof in conjunction with the Director/Project Manager.
- Review and approve membership applications.
- Convene the Community Advisory Council.
- Make decisions on behalf of the Coalition as deemed appropriate
Project Teams
Responsible for reviewing strategies of a specific priority area and make recommendations regarding implementation of activities, programs, etc. that should improve outcomes through collective impact model. Each team shall have two co-chairs, whom have experience and knowledge of the topic area and shall serve as community champions. Co-chairs shall facilitate project team meeting and provide updates and feedback to the Executive Leadership as well as the Coalition. Project Team meeting dates, times vary from month-to- month but are included on the events calendar and within the electronic newsletter.
Public- Private Stakeholder Community Improvement Council
The council has been created to make recommendations on high-impact policies, projects and initiatives which promote the Chatham Community Blueprint and improve community well-being throughout the region. The goal if the council is to serve as a steering committee in coordination with local government leaders, the CGIC Executive Leadership and social services providers to work collectively for the adoption and implementation of strategic priorities that guide policy, programs and resource allocation.
