Humanim

A Good Idea

Description

Humanim serves individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. The program has five core service areas: Workforce Development, Mental Health, Neuro-Rehabilitation, Developmental Disabilities, and Deaf Services. The vocational services of Humanim include career assessment, job placement, job coaching, and other long-term assistance with alternative employment options for individuals with a disability. Mental health services, such as therapy, in-home consultations, and response to acute emotional or behavioral crises, are available for adults and older adults. Neuro-rehabilitation is provided for people of all ages suffering from neurologic impairments. Support in areas such as behavioral support, day programs, and residential programs for those with developmental disabilities are also provided. Deaf services include vocational support, from training to placement and coaching, by professional staff fluent in sign language.

Goal / Mission

Humanim's mission is to identify those in greatest need and provide uncompromising human services.

Results / Accomplishments

Humanim provides ongoing support for individuals with disabilities regardless of age, gender, geography, ethnicity, or human service requirements. With assistance from other community organizations, the organization restored and adapted the historic American Brewery Building, which, since May 2009, has been used by Humanim staff to provide employment services to its surrounding neighborhood.
